The historical Schoolhouse is the community centre of the village used by residents and local community groups for recreation and social activities.
The Schoolhouse was the site of Maryborough Primary School built in the 1880’s. Having been lovingly restored, many of the historic features remain, though the Schoolhouse is now a modern and comfortable building. Many of our residents view the Schoolhouse as an extension of their own home and have access 24 hours a day. Residents are welcome to use the facilities with family and friends at any time.

Our residents feel the Village is the perfect size. With only 50 homes available, you’ll soon get to know everyone, yet there are enough people to find truly binding friendships. Our residents, all over 55, are a like-minded group of people who enjoy the country life with amenities close by. Our Village is uncommon in that residents are welcome to work if they choose to. This gives you even greater flexibility over your lifestyle choices. We like to think of the village as a “pocket community”
Health & Aged Care
We have a commitment to do everything possible to keep residents in their homes for as long as possible. We facilitate a Flexi – Care approach to assist our residents to stay healthy and happy in their own home, with the appropriate care provided by the appropriate services when and if required. We strive to keep couples together for the long term. You may be comforted to know only approx 8% of people will ever go to nursing home and we try our best to make staying at home possible for longer.
Village Community Philosophy
People’s rights to independence, autonomy and privacy is a very strong philosophy of this village. Involvement in community life is completely the choice of the resident. How much or how little is completely up to the individual. Every resident has the right to be heard with respect and dignity maintained. There is an active Residents Committee who represent the residents views and requests, both the committee and General Residents Meetings meet on a monthly basis.
The School House Village is fortunate in that it is operated by a family concern with the family having a “hands on approach”. They know every resident in the village. It is not one of many villages’ within a large Corporate Group. Its’ policies and procedures have grown to suit this village and its residents, not generic policies for many villages.
Residents are most welcome to have their pets move into the Village with them. We understand the importance and benefits of companionship from animals. All pets need approval prior to entering the Village and rules and guidelines must be followed to ensure the happiness of all residents.
Lock and Leave
An advantage to living at the Schoolhouse Village is that you have the freedom to go on holiday whenever you wish. You can relax knowing your home is secure and your front lawn area will be maintained whilst you are away. If you own a caravan or boat, many of our blocks are large enough for you to fit the caravan or boat on your own property. For smaller blocks, we accommodate to store the caravan and/or boat on the Village grounds.
There is support for the residents, committees, guidance and advice to the community. There is also an “open door” approach so that everyone feels welcome to discuss whatever they need
Purchasing at the Schoolhouse Village.
Purchasing a property at Maryborough Schoolhouse Village is a loan/lease purchase. This is the most common payment set up in retirement villages.
You only need a $1000 deposit to secure a property, this will be refunded less legal fees if you change your mind before settlement.
The balance of your property price is due at settlement. Our settlement dates are flexible, designed to work around you selling your current home (if required). We have some houses already built and ready to move straight in. If you choose to purchase one which is not yet built, building takes around 3-4 months from signing the contract. There is no stamp duty required.
